This isn't my daughters first time shooting as Barbie. She has shot as Barbie in the past. She loves Barbie. Barbie is so much more than a doll. She is happiness, acceptance, power, intelligence, kindness, and friendship. Barbie has unlimited potential. My daughter possesses all of the same traits as Barbie which is why she connects with her. Today she is Desert Barbie.

About the shoot
I find my daughter to be the coolest person I’ve ever met. She always comes up with the best ideas. This was a totally unplanned shoot, that she came up with on a whim. On this day, we were out in Palm Springs relaxing in the sun during a slow winter weekend, when we took a drive around some of the older homes in Palm Springs. My daughter, dressed head-to-toe in pink, came up with the idea of shooting her to look like Barbie. You will notice her stiff arms and legs in photos as she pretends to be the doll herself. This is how Desert Barbie was born.
