This isn't my daughters first time shooting as Barbie. She has shot as Barbie in the past. Barbie is so much more than a doll. Barbie is happiness, acceptance, power, intelligence, kindness, and friendship. Barbie has unlimited potential. My daughter possesses all of the same traits as Barbie which is why she connects with her.

About the shoot
I find my daughter to be the coolest person I’ve ever met. On this day, we were out in Palm Springs relaxing in the sun during a winter weekend when we took a drive around some of the older homes in Palm Springs. My daughter, dressed head-to-toe in pink, came up with the idea of shooting her to look like Barbie. You will notice her stiff arms and legs in photos as she pretends to be the doll herself.

My bestie & I realized that we have the perfect Harry, Hermione & Ron. So naturally, as photographers, we had to shoot them as just that. We suited them up, took them to Universal Studios Hollywood and they fully immersed themselves in the roles.

Our session began with a trip to Ollivanders to get the kids their own wand. We walked around to the windows and allowed them to try their magic, stopping in different locations to shoot.
We both shot the session on our Sony Alpha series, mirrorless cameras. This allowed us to push the ISO in the dark since we used all natural lighting. The kids had fun but I think we actually had more fun!

About the shoot
This was my second shoot with Violet and Adrian. The first time, Adrian, came to me with an idea – to capture their beautiful family followed by a surprise engagement.
But this time it was all Violet. She wanted something unique and special for their Save-The-Dates. So our bride-to-be came to me with this really fun idea. Violet came up with the looks, the props, the car, even the shots! Then we took to the beaches of LA county at golden hour and came up with these incredible shots. This was the most fun I’ve had in a shoot.
Violet & Adrian are always so fun too shoot with. They are both naturally so photogenic, which is why during this session, I even photographed them getting ready. Every thing they did was so perfect and picturesque. Some of my favorite shots were our unplanned ones.

Creatively we wanted to capture the feeling in a film-like way. To do that we went with higher grain, lower light, darker shadows and color graded it for added nostalgia. That mixed with the high contrast colors inside In-N-Out gave us the perfect combo.

About the shoot
Olivia H is such a joy to shoot. She is naturally stunning and so photogenic. With this shoot, I was so curious how it would go because of the traffic inside the location but Olivia did not let it bother her. She brought two of her cousins to shoot alongside of her for a few pictures.
